The Lafayette Board of Education currently has two vacant seats on the Board. If you would like to be considered for appointment to a seat, please forward a letter of intent along with a resume by June 5, 2024, no later than 3:00 pm to Mrs. Erin Siipola, Board Secretary to [email protected]. Any email received after 3:00 pm will be disqualified. Those interested in seeking a seat on the Board will be required to attend the Board's public meeting on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 7:00 pm at Lafayette Township School, 178 Beaver Run Road, Lafayette, NJ and may be interviewed in public session by the full Board. The seats will be filled by a majority vote of the present members of the Board, and the individuals selected will serve until the January 2025 Lafayette Board of Education Reorganization. Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A: 12-1 et. seq., all candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- Be able to read, write, and understand English;
- Hold U.S. citizenship and residency in Lafayette Township for at least one year;
- Have no interest in any contract with, or claim against, the Board;
- Not hold office as mayor or member of the municipal governing body;
- Currently registered to vote in Lafayette Township;
- Not disqualified as a voter pursuant to N.J.S.A. 19:4-1; and
- Not disqualified due to conviction of a crime or offense under N.J.S.A. 18A:12-1.
