Free Full-Day Preschool for Three and Four-Year-Old Students at Lafayette Township School District
Lafayette School is pleased to announce that it will offer free, full-day preschool for approximately 24 Lafayette resident students beginning on January 2, 2024. The current preschool program will expand to two preschool classes which will afford all students the opportunity to attend the full-day program. Over the next five years, New Jersey’s Preschool Expansion Aid (PEA) is anticipated to give the district the opportunity to include all three and four-year-old children from the community in the preschool program.
An Early Childhood Advisory Council composed of administrators, teachers, parents and community stakeholders are tasked with rolling out the new preschool program. The district will add an additional preschool teacher, support staff, and two full-time classroom aides to support the preschool program expansion. Board of Education President, Josh Aikens, expressed enthusiasm and a profound sense of gratitude over the opportunity. He stated, “We as a board, as well as members of this wonderful community, welcome this Pre-K program as it will allow for all families in our town a chance to give their young learners a place to jump start their journey in LTES . This, we hope, will lead to a smoother transition into our K-8 and beyond. We would not have gotten to this point without the hard work of our administrative staff and stakeholders. Their contributions were vital to this successful program. We look forward to continually providing the best academic opportunities for Lafayette families.”
